Cornwall, its wildlife and the sea are intrinsic to Sarah’s work, particularly the sea. The importance of this relationship is clear as Sarah talks about her recent monotypes in her blog.
“I remember an encounter with a seal, the land between earth and sea... being between elements in a light place.”
Sarah trained as a sculptor in London returning to Cornwall in the early nineties to work as a graphic designer and illustrator for Cornwall Wildlife Trust. In 2016 she illustrated the children's book “Treasure from the Sea” written by local author Lisa Woollett. During a joint exhibition with Lisa at Falmouth Poly in 2018 Sarah was inspired to enrol on the Authorial Illustration MA at Falmouth with the intention of examining the meaning of the word illustration and developing as an artist and writer.
